Inspector Ted Nurse, RUC, Royal Ulster Constabulary, who along with Sgt Michael Willets, 3 Parachute Regiment, British Army, were the heroes in the rescue of a woman and child when a Provisional IRA bomb was planted in the police station at Springfield Road, Belfast. Willets threw himself on top of two children to protect them. Willetts was postumously awarded the George Cross. Nurse, who was injured, was awarded the George Medal. 197105250366TN.
