Close family and friends follow the funeral cortege of Sgt Patrick Maxwell, following a funeral mass at St Patrick's Church, Dungannon, Co Tyrone, N Ireland. Sgt Maxwell, 36 years, married with 5 children, was one of two RUC officers murdered by the Provisional IRA in an ambush near Pomeroy, also Co Tyrone. The dead & injured police officers were on a Good Samaritan call delivering a message to a man advising him that his sister had died in the Rep of Ireland. It transpired that the message passed on by the Rep of Ireland police was false. Sgt Maxwell died on 25th November 1975, his funeral was on 27th November 1975. 197511270750b.
