Constable Thomas J W Moore, aka Walter Moore, who was shot dead on 11th November 1971 by the Provisional IRA in an off-licence only 100 yards from Oldpark RUC Station in North Belfast. Sergeant Dermot Hurley, a fluent Irish speaker and a native of Co Wicklow, Rep of Ireland, also died in the shooting incident. Sgt Hurley was the first Roman Catholic member of the RUC to be murdered in the Troubles. 197111110447a.
