Miriam Daly, lecturer at Queen's University, Belfast, N Ireland, who is prominent in the N Ireland civil rights movement. She later joined the Irish Republican Socialist Party and after its leader Seamus Costello was assasinated she became the party's chairperson. On 26th June 1980 she was shot dead in the hallway of her home at Andersonston, Belfast. It is believed loyalist gunmen were responsible. 197200000454MD1.
