Jim Devlin, aka James Devlin, and his wife, Gertrude, pictured on their wedding day - both were shot dead by UVF gunmen in the laneway of their home at Edendork, near Coalisland, Co Tyrone, N Ireland, on 7th May 1974. Mrs Devlin had just collected her husband, a bar manager. Their 17 year old daughter survived the gun attack. Mr Devlin was a former GAA county footballer. Both Mr Devlin and his wife were members of the local SDLP branch. Some time later a 21 year old UDR soldier, who drove the gunmen, on becoming an evangelical Christian, later confessed to his part in the incident. 197405070262JD1.
