The body of one of the victims of what appears to be a tit-for-tat double murder between Castleblaney, Co Monaghan, Rep of Ireland, and Newtownhamilton, Co Armagh, N Ireland, 25th August 1975, is carried to British Army helicopter. Colm McCartney, 22 years, Drumarg Park, Armagh, and John Farmer, 32 years, Dungannon Road, Moy, Co Tyrone, both Roman Catholics, were murdered by UVF members posing as a military patrol. The incident occured less than a month after the Miami Showband incident. One of the bodies was found in the laneway of a house owned by the relative of a Protestant found shot dead 3 miles away only a week earlier. McCartney & Farmer were returning from an all-Ireland GAA semi-final. 197508250609.
