On the first anniversary of Bloody Sunday family members and friends carry placards bearing photographs of the 14 victims of 30 January 1972 incident in the Bogside, Londonderry, N Ireland, UK. Thirteen died on the day and one several months later. The shootings occured during a Civil Rights Association march and involved the Parachute Regiment of the British Army. It has always been a matter of dispute who fired first. The army have always maintained they were fired on first, a view hotly contested by locals. The anniversary meeting took place in front of Rossville Flats. 197301280039b
