Albert Edward Browne, 29 years old, who was sentenced to death for the murder of a policeman, RUC Constable Gordon Harron, who was fatally injured in a shooting incident as the result of a stop and search on 18th October 1972. At the time the death penalty was mandatory for the murder of a policeman. He was reprieved by NI Secretary of State William Whitelaw, February 1973. 197302000094b.
