The wife of Nicholas White, from Ballysillan, Belfast, N Ireland, is comforted by her mother and sister following the funeral service. Nicholas was shot by the Provisional IRA 14th March 1976 when he opened the door of the Ardoyne community centre where he worked. A former British soldier he had married a local girl. He died in hospital the day following the shooting. His funeral service was attended by hundreds from both religious communities. 197603170156b
