Detective Inspector Cecil Patterson, who died in a Provisional IRA gun attack on 26th February 1971 in which another RUC colleague, Constable Robert Buckley, also died. A third colleague, Constable Bernard Fitzpatrick, although seriously injured, survived. The shooting incident occured during rioting in the Ardoyne district of North Belfast, N Ireland.197102260120
