RUC Chief Supt Frank Lagan accompanied by British Army personnel goes walkabout in Derry's Bogside, August 1969. Lagan's appearance would have been highly symbolic as it was almost certainly the first appearance of a uniformed RUC officer in the area since the Battle of the Bogside when the RUC were forced out. 196908000023.
