Detective and uniformed policeman on the bridge over the section of the M2 where 17 year old Henry Cunningham, a Protestant construction worker, from Carndonagh, Co Donegal, Rep of Ireland, was shot dead in a UVF gun attack on 10th August 1973. He was a front seat passenger in a minibus with a Rep of Ireland vehicle registration number. He was one of six workers, both Protestant & Roman Catholic, employed on a building site in Newtownabbey, on the outskirts of Belfast. Altogether 14 shots hit the minibus slightly injuring one other occupant. The Protestant paramilitary UVF would have assumed that all the occupants were Roman Catholic. 197308090541c.
